Our Mission

Silver Horizons New Mexico, Inc., a non-profit charitable 501(c)(3), dedicates itself to supporting the senior population of New Mexico by offering programs, services and events that facilitate independence, promote well-being, maximize the quality of life with dignity, provide access to community services, and celebrate the lives of our elders.

 

Silver Horizons New Mexico, Inc. (SH) is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of senior citizens in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County.

We strive to fulfill our mission in the following ways:

heart The Senior Hall of Fame Luncheon - Each May we honor four seniors for their lifetimes of community service. Coming Up May 22, 2008

heart The Healthy Lifestyles Expo - Each fall the Expo provides 5,000 free flu shots, promotes healthy lifestyles and provides health screenings across the lifespan.

heart Home Repairs, Retrofits and Chores - SH purchases building and repair materials and hires temporary workers to assist the City of Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Department of Senior Affairs Home Services Project with minor home repairs, retrofits, and chores for low-income, frail and in-crisis seniors.

heart Emergency Utility Bill Assistance - SH continually works to raise funds to help in-crisis seniors avoid having their gas and electricity turned off.

heart Holiday Cheer - In December SH provides about 200 residents of four public-housing communities with holiday gifts and parties. We also provide 90 care packages to the residents of 12 care homes.

heart Funding - Proceeds from our special events, grants and donation from the community at large are used to fund SH's aid programs. SH receives no governmental funding.
